The manufacturer of the drones DJI gave its answer to GoPro, which, according to rumors, is working on its own UAV. DJI introduced two new cameras for its flagship drones, the Inspire 1. These cameras, called the Zenmuse X5 and X5R, respectively, are the first marketed airbags with Micro Four Thirds sensors. Each camera takes photos with a resolution of 16 megapixels and shoots 4K-video at a rate of 30 frames per second.
The X5R camera is capable of recording photos and videos (including lossless 4K CinemaDNG format) both on the connected microSD memory card and on the built-in SSD with a capacity of 512 gigabytes. In addition, each of the cameras weighing 340 grams contains four interchangeable lenses (size from 12 to 17 millimeters). The pilot can change the aperture and lens focus even when the Inspire 1 is in the air.
It is worth noting that some other unmanned aerial platforms, including eye3 and MikroKopter hexakopters, already have a function of interchangeable lenses for the camera. Nevertheless, none of the competitors offers so many flight modes and control mechanisms, like Inspire 1.
"To achieve this quality video, which shoots the Zenmuse X5 and X5R, pilots had to spend thousands of dollars for large and complex air equipment," said director and founder of DJI Frank Wang. - Now the pilots can simply install the Zenmus X5 camera on their Inspire 1, attach the propellers, go up in the air and have full control over the shot during the flight. This saves valuable time during the filming of movies and makes the creation of high quality video faster and easier. "
Nevertheless, do not expect these cameras to be cheap. Inspire 1 with a body X5 and a lens 15 mm f / 1.7 ASPH will cost you $ 4,499, if you pre-order before delivery at the end of the month. The X5R version will be on sale by the end of this year and will cost $ 7,999. For comparison: the usual Inspire 1 and its standard camera cost $ 2,899.
