Samsung will improve the quality of its mobile cameras with the help of new technology

At the last forum of investors, Samsung Electronics Company introduced a new technology BRITECELL, rumors of which had been circulating since the summer of this year. Thanks to this technology, photosensors of the future mobile gadgets of the company will be able to take pictures in conditions of very low illumination. Most likely, BRITECELL debuts already in the flagship smartphone Galaxy S7, which they promise to introduce to us in February 2016.

The BRITECELL camera module differs from its counterparts in that it does not use green pixels (traditionally the image is formed from pixels of green, red and blue), which are formed in the pictures by blocking the light with a special filter. It is the rejection of this filter and allows the sensor of the camera to get more light, which will allow smartphone owners with BRITECELL-camera to take high-quality pictures in low light, and they will have much less color artifacts.

The pixel size of the sensor of the new camera is 1.12 micrometers, which made the sensor 17% thinner and more compact than the previous version, its thickness decreased to five millimeters. This will allow smartphones Samsung to become even thinner than before. The sensor resolution is planned at the level of 20 megapixels. And the process of post-processing the received images will be entrusted to the company's new technology, which is called Smart WDR, which is the development of the HDR we are familiar with.
