Canon introduced a mirrorless EOS M camera

Canon EOS M

Nikon has cameras J1 and V1, Sony has a line of NEX, and Olympus and Panasonic produce cameras standard Micro Four Thirds. Today, the list of manufacturers of mirrorless cameras is supplemented by another brand. Canon has officially announced the EOS M , a new camera that combines the APS-C image sensor, supports wide-angle optics and a high-performance body.

In fact, the EOS M is a revised Rebel T4i (650D) camera, from which it shares almost all the characteristics of an entry-level DSLR camera. As well as the 650D, the novelty is equipped with an 18-megapixel sensor APS-C. The EOS M camera is based on the DIGIC 5 processor, can shoot 4.3 frames per second and offers ISO sensitivity up to 12 800 ISO, which can be increased to 25 600 ISO. All this is assembled in a small case made of magnesium alloy, which, although not very attractive in appearance, but differs in its lightness and strength.

EOS M writes video in MPEG-4 format, including 1080p at 24, 25 or 30 fps. The proprietary Movie Servo technology offers continuous autofocusing during video shooting. The camera has a stereo microphone and an input jack for connecting an external microphone.

It is also worth noting the manual settings in the video recording mode and a 3-inch touchscreen LCD-1.04 million pixels to view the footage. Accessory Mount Adapter EF-EOS M adds EOS M camera compatibility with Canon EF and EF-S lenses without loss of functionality and quality.

Canon also released two new lenses, EF-M 22mm f / 2 STM ("kit" for EOS M) and EF-M 18-55mm f / 3.5-5.6 STM. "STM" stands for the proprietary Stepping Motor technology, which provides super-fast and silent focusing.

Canon positions the EOS M as a compact camera for video-lovers.

In Japan, Canon EOS M sales will begin in September this year (America - October). Retailers B & H and Amazon already accept pre-orders. The EOS M camera with a 22 mm STM lens in the kit will cost the customer $ 800 and will be available in black and white colors. The cost of the 8-55mm STM lens is $ 300, the Mount Adapter EF-EOS M adapter is $ 200 and the Speedlite flash is $ 150.
