A great three from Panasonic

Panasonic has officially added to its lineup three new digital cameras from the Lumix family - ZS8, ZR3 and TS2. Although these models belong to the category of compact cameras, they have a number of features that are characteristic of semi-professional cameras. Apparently, this magnificent troika will be an exhibition on public display at the upcoming exhibition PMA 2010.

Technically, the most advanced model of this three is the Lumix ZS7. It has a 12-megapixel matrix, 25-300 mm optics and can provide 12-fold optical zoom. Moreover, this is the first compact camera with a built-in GPS module from Panasonic. Other design features include fast autofocus, the ability to control the aperture, shutter speed and shutter speed manually, as well as a new optical image stabilization system. If you believe Panasonic, it is twice as fast as the IS system. By the way, those who often take pictures at a long distance, probably will like the Intelligent Resolution function, which allows you to adjust the softness and clarity of the photo, even with a 16-fold digital zoom. Still note that this camera still can record video 720p in AVCHD (H.264) format and has a separate recording key. The camera supports SDXC memory cards with a capacity of up to 32 GB and is able to recognize faces, and that is no less important for novice photographers, it can work in full automatic mode.

The second model, TS2, is much simpler: it has only 8X 25-200 mm optics and does not support GPS. On the other hand, it is more compact and faster: the closing speed of the shutter is about 0.3 seconds. However, the camera still can record HD video in AVCHD Lite format.

Of particular interest is the third model - TS2. It belongs to the category of protected compact cameras and is made in full compliance with the standards adopted by the US Armed Forces to protect against dust, water, frost and external physical influences. Theoretically, the camera can be kept under water at a depth of 1 m or in frost at temperatures up to -10 degrees Celsius. In addition, it will still withstand a drop from a height of up to 1 m. As stated, Lumix TS2 has a 14-megapixel image sensor, 4.6x 28-128 mm optics. In terms of functionality, it practically does not differ from the above models: IS optical image stabilization system, the ability to record HD video in AVCHD Lite format, etc.

The cost and availability of the above models is not yet reported.
