Sony has announced that it has developed an 8.3-megapixel MCB1172 module for high-resolution cameras. Today, with dimensions of 9.5x7.1 mm, it is the smallest chip in the world with such capabilities. Embedded in the camera, it will make it possible to shoot video at 720p at 30 frames per second. Products with this module will be available by the end of the year.

The module includes image stabilization, autofocus, autofocus movement and face recognition. For shooting in rooms with poor lighting, a high sensitivity mode and slow-motion shooting up to 120 frames per second are provided. Optionally available 16x zoom.
