The D5000 is a great Nikon entry level SLR

As it became known, Nikon officially unveiled its newest DSLR camera, the D5000, last night. This model belongs to the category of entry-level SLR cameras and has some features that are typical for compact hi-end cameras, as well as for the well-known D90 model. In fact, this is Nikon's first DSLR camera, which has a hinged display. Moreover, it still can record HD video in 720p resolution.

It is worth noting that the D5000 has an HDMI port, and the resolution of the CMOS matrix on this model now reaches 12.3 megapixels. The camera can work with sensitivity up to 3200 in normal mode or 6400 in the so-called extended mode.

Perhaps one of the main design features of the D5000 is 11-, not 3-point autofocus. Moreover, this “DSLR” from Nikon is also able to track the full shooting in a three-dimensional (3D) mode. By the way, she still knows how to automatically remove dust from the image sensor. In general, it can be said that the D5000 has a number of functionalities that are typical for compact hi-end cameras, and of course, the D90. Among them are the scene recognition function (scene recognition) and many preset settings. Of particular interest is the function of D-Lighting, which allows you to take clear pictures even in the shade.

Despite such design features and an abundance of functionality, the D5000 still belongs to the category of entry-level DSLR cameras. As expected, it will be available in May at a price of $ 850. Included in the package, by the way, is a 18-55 mm lens. In the body variant (without optics), it will cost only 730 US dollars.
