At the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, which was held from June 19 to 25, Israeli company Elbit Systems for the first time demonstrated to the world the SkEye Wide-Area Persistent Surveillance camera. The new development is unique not only because it is one of the most advanced cameras for aerial video surveillance with a resolution of a billion pixels, but also the ability to cover the "gaze" of an area of 80 square kilometers, transmitting data in real time.
SkEye camera is able to record on such a large territory thanks to a modified system of Visual Intelligence (VISINT), which is already available on most drones. In addition, if necessary, the camera is able to record only a particular small area of the terrain. The data from the electron-optical sensors of the UAV are transferred to the preprocessing system and stored in the local storage.
After a number of software conversions, the data stream is transferred to the Control Center, where, in addition to displaying the image, a backup is written to the cloud storage. The configuration of the cloud storage system allows you to access 10 stored operators simultaneously. In addition, SkEye is equipped with an alarm system that can trigger when the necessary objects or events (for example, a fire or a wanted criminal on a stolen vehicle) get in the camera's field of vision. As reported by designers, the SkEye camera can be installed on both manned aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles. And the class of the aircraft practically does not play any role. The camera is universal.
